Checklist- Before Buying A New Car
For most people buying a new car is a big decision and
therefore taking the right one becomes extremely important.
Many factors affect the buy decision. So, it is important that
you first draw up a checklist that will list all the important
factors that have an important bearing on the buy decision.
Let us see what all goes into such a checklist. The first
consideration is why indeed you want to buy a new car and what
are those specific needs that buying it will fulfill. Cars come
in all sorts of sizes, configurations, shapes, and prices. So,
you need to come out with a suitable decision on them that will
help you to arrive at a specific category of car that you would
then want to buy.
Your budget for the car and how you would arrange for all
the money to buy the car is another important factor that you
would need to include in the checklist. Sometimes, the space
available in your residential compound to store your car can
restrict its size. So do not fail to consider this aspect in
your checklist.
You need to also note that it is not just the car cost that
you will need to pay for. The cost of the accessories, the
taxes, the car's registration and its insurance are all going
to drain your pocket of your hard earned savings. So you need
to consider these additional costs in your checklist and keep
in mind while you buy a new car.
The next aspect would be the fuel efficiency of the car.
This factor is today of significant importance due to the
rapidly north moving gas costs. Your monthly expenditure on car
gas costs will be substantial. So, you need to go in for the
most fuel efficient car in the category chosen by you.
A car's maintenance cost becomes substantial after a few
years. Therefore, you need to buy a car which is low on
maintenance. Easy and comparatively cheap availability of
spares is another important aspect to include in your
checklist. In the case of some car manufacturers, the initial
cost of the car itself is low, but spares are exorbitantly
costly.
Other important factors that will go into your checklist
include a detailed comparative feature-wise and price review of
all makes/models of cars in the category shortlisted by you.
Then again, if you have planned to finance your new car, then
you need to pay attention to the repayment terms, the period
and the interest rate.
You also need to buy your car from one of the reputed car
dealers, although buying from them may appear slightly
costlier. This is because some dealers are really not on the up
and up. Another important point is to consider the views of all
members of your family while taking the buy decision in respect
of your new car. Last but not least do remember to inspect your
new car thoroughly before you buy it.
